The campground was delightfully empty on Monday, May 6 at the start of the "Wild & Scenic Eel River Rafting & Wilderness" trip. The hiking was beautiful. Take a look at Snuller and Stephen's pictures for some wonderful vistas.

We were on time to meet Aurora at Dos Rios on Thursday morning, even though I had a hard run across the campground to catch Margaret and Stephen driving away in the van. Good thing I caught them!

While this trip was originally planned for the Middle Eel (which Margaret and Aurora had done the year before), the water level was very low so the trip was moved to the main stem of the Eel. Jaimie O'Donnell decided we would cover the 49 miles from Dos Rios to Alderpoint over the four days scheduled for rafting.

Even though we were on time for our morning meeting at Dos Rios, we didn't get on the water until early afternoon. I was surprised to see that Aurora had only one raft for the 11 passengers -- five of us were going to have to paddle the 49 miles in inflatable solo kayaks!
